From little things, big things grow.

Our founder, Joe Samuelsen, staked his claim at Flagstone Creek in 1958 with his wife Ruby. Nestled in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. The region boasts mineral-rich alluvial soil, high annual rainfall and prime agricultural land responsible for $342 million worth of produce sold each year. The Lockyer Valley is known as Australia’s salad bowl and is one of the world’s top 10 most fertile farming areas.

Joe spent decades honing his craft and producing prime first grade Lucerne with a focus on quality, weight and excellent leaf retention. Joe’s produce set a new standard in Lucerne and was often sold before it was even baled. Growing Lucerne is an art and Joe passed his techniques, knowledge and know-how to his Grandson Shaun who has now taken over the family business.

Renamed SJA Farms in 2021, Shaun continues to produce Lucerne to a quality and standard that would impress Joe.
